Eating Disorder and Body Image Therapy

Struggling with food or your body can take up an exhausting amount of mental and emotional space. You may feel caught between wanting greater freedom and fearing what could happen if you loosen the rules, control, or behaviors that help you feel safe.

Eating concerns do not always look obvious from the outside. You may be functioning well in other areas of your life while privately experiencing guilt after eating, body checking, restriction, binge eating, emotional eating, chronic dieting, or persistent dissatisfaction with your appearance.

THERAPY CAN HELP WITH

• Restrictive eating or rigid food rules

• Binge eating and emotional eating

• Body dissatisfaction and body checking

• Fear, guilt, or anxiety surrounding food

• Chronic dieting and all-or-nothing thinking

• Self-worth tied to weight, shape, or appearance

• Eating concerns connected to anxiety, trauma, or perfectionism

• Supporting a teen or young adult with an eating disorder

HOW WE MAY WORK TOGETHER

I approach eating and body-image concerns with compassion, curiosity, and respect for the protective role these patterns may have developed to serve. Treatment may incorporate CBT for eating disorders, Family-Based Treatment for adolescents, DBT, Internal Family Systems, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and relational or attachment-based therapy.

When appropriate, I may collaborate with physicians, dietitians, or other members of your treatment team so that emotional, nutritional, and medical needs are addressed together.

I provide telehealth therapy for clients located throughout Florida and Minnesota, with walk-and-talk therapy available in St. Petersburg and nearby areas.

You deserve support that looks beyond food and weight and helps you understand the whole person underneath the struggle. Contact me to schedule a complimentary 15-minute telephone consultation.
