Therapy for Teens and Young Adults
Adolescence and early adulthood can bring intense emotions, changing relationships, academic pressure, identity questions, and uncertainty about the future. A teen or young adult may look capable on the outside while privately feeling anxious, overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure of themselves.
Therapy offers a supportive space to talk openly, understand what is happening beneath the surface, and develop skills that build confidence, emotional stability, and healthier relationships.
THERAPY CAN HELP WITH
• Anxiety, OCD, and persistent overthinking
• Depression, loneliness, or loss of motivation
• Confidence, identity, and self-worth
• Managing strong emotions and impulsive reactions
• Friendships, dating, boundaries, and communication
• School, college, career, and life transitions
• Food, body image, and eating concerns
• Reducing reliance on technology and social media for validation
HOW WE MAY WORK TOGETHER
I aim to create a genuine, collaborative relationship in which teens and young adults feel respected rather than judged or lectured. Depending on the client’s needs, therapy may draw from CBT, DBT, Exposure and Response Prevention, Internal Family Systems, mindfulness, attachment-based therapy, and relational approaches.
We may work on identifying emotions, communicating needs, setting boundaries, tolerating uncertainty, strengthening coping skills, and developing a more stable sense of self. When working with teens, I also help parents understand how to offer support while protecting the trust and privacy that make therapy effective.
I provide telehealth therapy for clients located throughout Florida and Minnesota, as well as walk-and-talk therapy in St. Petersburg and nearby areas.
